Sheilah Beckett
Cleaning my desktop I came across a folder with these five images in it. Sheilah Beckett has done tons of children's book/fairy tale art. These struck me most from the work i could find of hers online. The first three almost look like they could be printed in brown and black only as spot colors but they contain such a lush hue - very different than most of her stuff but her more recent work seems to also capture some of this duotone scale. The other two are semi-erotic and the line-work is amazing. The second one (from the Ribald Reader 1954) is somewhat reminiscent of the illustrations for The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by John Buckland Wright (1910).

Two New Drawings Today
Working on freeing up not only the content - which I have been accomplishing for a long time now - but also the mark making. God love a calligraphy pen.
Covers
Been dragging a whole bunch of these Fumetti (et al.) comic magazine covers onto my desktop. Amazing stuff. If I could paint like this - quickly - I would be some thrilled.

Tests
Testing some new color ideas in abstract form for a 2012 direction. White and black on dark gray is something I has always wanted to tackle. We'll see.
